"Dive" is a text-based adventure game written by Pat Persch and published by CodeWorks - Cursor for the Commodore PET. It was part of a series of games developed by Persch and CodeWorks, which were known for their engaging storytelling and interactive gameplay. The game was designed to run on the Commodore PET's limited hardware, utilizing text commands for player interaction, a common format for early computer games.
The gameplay of "Dive" likely involved navigating through a series of scenarios or puzzles, with the player typing commands to progress through the story. This style of gameplay was typical of text adventures from the late 1970s and early 1980s, where players would explore virtual worlds, solve puzzles, and interact with the environment using simple text inputs. The exact plot and mechanics of "Dive" are not widely documented, but it would have followed the conventions of the genre.
CodeWorks - Cursor was a notable publisher of software for the Commodore PET, and Pat Persch was a prolific writer of text-based games during this era. While specific details about "Dive" are scarce, it is part of the broader legacy of early computer gaming, representing the creativity and innovation of developers working within the constraints of early personal computers. The game would have been distributed on cassette tapes or floppy disks, common storage mediums for the time.
