Pong! is a game developed by Georg Feil and published by CodeWorks - Cursor for the Commodore PET. It is a simple tennis-style game, inspired by the original Pong arcade game created by Atari. The game was designed to run on the Commodore PET's limited hardware, utilizing its monochrome display and basic input capabilities.
Georg Feil was known for creating several games for the Commodore PET, and Pong! was one of his contributions to the early home computer gaming scene. CodeWorks - Cursor was a software publisher that specialized in releasing games and applications for the Commodore PET, a popular computer in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The game itself is a straightforward implementation of Pong, featuring two paddles and a ball, with players controlling the paddles to hit the ball back and forth. The goal is to outscore the opponent by making the ball pass their paddle. While the graphics and gameplay were basic due to the hardware limitations of the Commodore PET, Pong! was a notable example of early home computer gaming and demonstrated the potential for simple yet engaging gameplay on personal computers.
