"Treasure Hunt" is a text-based adventure game written by Chris Torkildson and published by CodeWorks - Cursor for the Commodore PET. The game was part of a series of text adventures created by CodeWorks, which were known for their simplicity and focus on exploration and puzzle-solving. As with many games of its era, "Treasure Hunt" relied heavily on text descriptions and player input to navigate the game world, with no graphical elements.
The objective of "Treasure Hunt" was to explore a virtual environment, solve puzzles, and locate hidden treasures. Players interacted with the game by typing commands, such as "go north," "take key," or "examine chest," to progress through the story. The game's design was typical of early text adventures, emphasizing imagination and logical thinking to overcome challenges.
CodeWorks - Cursor was a small software company active in the late 1970s and early 1980s, specializing in games for the Commodore PET. While specific details about "Treasure Hunt" are scarce, it is known that the game was part of a broader trend of text-based adventures popular during the early days of personal computing. The Commodore PET's limited graphical capabilities made text adventures a natural fit for the platform, and games like "Treasure Hunt" were among the first to introduce players to interactive storytelling.
